Let the holiday season begin! There’s no bah-humbugging here. We are bubbling over with holiday cheer. Mele Kalikimaka dear readers.

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day…

The traditional preparations always begin the day after Thanksgiving. We fill the house with festive Christmas music and put on a pot of simmering potpourri that says the holiday season has ARRIVED.

Once the house is brimming with merriment, Daddy gets the task of lugging up all of the decorations and the tree from the basement. Poor hubby. Katie and I tear into the boxes right away and start setting up.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. Only a hippopotamus will do. No crocodiles, no rhinoceruses. I only like hippopotamuses. And hippoputamuses like me too.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

We finish by dressing the tree. Reds and greens, silver and gold, store bought or homemade, each ornament tells a story and carries joyful memories. Pretty Miss Katie always takes a minute out to enjoy her glitter globe snowman ornament. It’s her very favorite ornament.

Thanks to my loving hubby, I finished off the day with a perfect cup of tea and reflected on the many blessings that are my life.     Happy holidays everyone! May you be surrounded by good people, filled with great food, and smile so big and so often that your cheeks are sore from the effort.

Happy Holiday…Happy Holiday…May the calendar keep bringing happy holidays to you.
