!Giveaway! Yes on Prop 37: Mountain Rose Herbs Epicurean Organic Seasonings Blends

Oct15th
2012
6 Comments Written by Jennifer

Mountain Rose Herbs and 20 something allergies have partnered up on a fantastic giveaway to support Proposition 37, the fight to label genetically modified foods!

Mountain Rose Herbs is one of my favorite companies, and I have a pantry full of their ingredients to prove it. They carry certified organic products includes bulk herbs and spices, aromatherapy and essential oils, tea and tea supplies, and natural health and body care.

Best part? I don’t have to do mass research every time I want to try a new product that they offer. I know it’s safe for the Earth and especially for my family.

And now they offer these amazing spice blends. I cannot wait to start creating recipes with the featured blends that are part of our giveaway. Stay tuned for allergy-friendly recipes that feature these herbs over the next 2 weeks.

!Giveaway! Yes on Prop 37: Mountain Rose Herbs Organic Seasoning Blends

One lucky reader will win 6 bottles of Mountain Rose Herbs Certified Organic Seasoning Blends:

  • Pumpkin Pie Spice (this one’s about to get a serious workout over here)
  • Chili Powder
  • West Indies Rub
  • Herbs de Provence
  • Thai Curry (we’re about to try this with seaweed noodles!)
  • Grilling Herbs

What makes these spices so great? They are Pure. Real. Food. Each blend is free of harmful GMOs, free from irradiation treatment, and are certified organic by OTCO and Kosher certified by Earth Kosher.

They go even further to make sure the farmers that grow their herbs and spices are able to negotiate fair rates for their products with the Good Trade Program, far exceeding fair trade standards.

Not enough to convince you? Mountain Rose Herbs also donates 2% of the proceeds from the sale of their Seasoning Blends to the Organic Consumers Association, helping to support the safety of our planet and our health.

Organic Consumers Association is the largest donator and cheerleader for the YES on Prop 37 effort so far.

Why are we doing this?

Proposition 37, The California Right To Know Genetically Engineered Food Act, is a David and Goliath piece of legislation that:

  • Requires labeling on raw or processed food offered for sale to consumers if made from plants or animals with genetic material changed in specified ways.
  • Prohibits labeling or advertising such food, or other processed food, as “natural.”
  • Exempts foods that are: certified organic; unintentionally produced with genetically engineered material; made from animals fed or injected with genetically engineered material but not genetically engineered themselves; processed with or containing only small amounts of genetically engineered ingredients; administered for treatment of medical conditions; sold for immediate consumption such as in a restaurant; or alcoholic beverages.

Learn more here.

There is some serious money being thrown into NOT labeling genetically-modified foods. Those giant Goliath companies like Monsanto and Dow that have a major financial push to keeping us in the dark have thrown over $35 MILLION dollars into knocking it down…AND IT’S WORKING.

Do you want to be able to make the choice to eat GMOs? Vote YES on Prop 37, and, for those of us not in CA, spread the word!! You can be instrumental in slowing down production of these Frankenfoods. The “alleged” cancer-causing, system-disrupting, health bombs will show up in a lot less foods if we are not buying them.

Right now, they’re in just about every processed food (and some that aren’t) that is not 100% certified organic…but you don’t know that because they’re not labeled. Because of cross-contamination in the fields, we’re also losing non-GMO foods at an alarming rate.

Many organic seed sources have already been contaminated and are no longer part of our organic seed bank.

How to Enter to Win

The giveaway is now closed, but you can still buy these fantastic seasoning blends here.

All you have to do is use the Rafflecopter widget below and (1) Sign up for one of our newsletters (or send in a postcard — see official rules for details) and (2) Make a voluntary donation to Yes on Prop 37 (or comment below about why you support Prop 37…or don’t).

You can get more entries by sharing on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Just complete the above 2 entries, and it will unlock the rest of them so you can share, share, share away!

You don’t have to donate to win — this is voluntary — but hopefully you’ll find a way to donate something! Even if you can only donate $5, every little bit helps!

PLEASE NOTE: This sweepstakes is open to US residents only; residents of Florida, New York or Rhode Island are not eligible.

I am praying that Prop 37 passes. It shouldn’t be such a battle to simply know what is in our food!

I strongly support GMO labeling as I think it is important to know what we are consuming. We need to become more informed consumers and demand that manufacturers clearly label what’s in our food!! Thanks for the chance!

Eating healthy, wholesome, nutritious food is a right, not a privilege. In order to ensure that we are eating what is best for us, we need to know what is in the food we buy. This is why I support Prop 37!
